Welcome to the Idaho Association of Museums

The Idaho Association of Museums (IAM) promotes and aids the enrichment and advancement of museums as educational centers, agencies of research, cultural centers, and the ultimate public repositories for objects having cultural, aesthetic, scientific, and historical significance. IAM furthers cooperation and communication among museums, museum workers, and others interested in museums, and fosters and supports special training for professionals and volunteers. It sponsors public and museological programs that encourage cultural involvement, and generally furthers public understanding and interest in the goals of its member organizations.

Membership in the IAM is open to all individuals, institutions, businesses, clubs and other organizations interested in the Association’s activities and objectives. An annual meeting is typically held in April, at differing locations around the state year to year. This year the annual meeting was not held, in favor of encouraging members to attend the Western Museums Association Annual Meeting being held October 11-14, 2006, in Boise.

The Institutional dues structure is according to general operating budget: under $5,000: $15.00 per year; $5,001 to $25,000: $20.00 per year; $25,001 to $50,000: $30.00 per year; over $50,000: $50.00 per year. Institutional memberships for museums that have not qualified for nonprofit status: $20.00 per year. Individual memberships: $10.00 per year.
